How Does Dumpster Rental Work?
I remember when I was a new homeowner. I tried to bootstrap everything and I never wanted to hire a dumpster rental for a project. For some reason I thought dumpsters were very expensive and would be a hassle to get, so I just put the idea out of my mind.
Wow was I wrong. Eventually my wife convinced me we needed to rent one, and I’m so glad she did. We were breaking up an old concrete pad in the back yard to make way for a new garden shed. Breaking up the concrete was no problem – it’s hard work but kind of rewarding. But it produced so many more concrete pieces than I thought it would! It seemed to go on forever. If I had been putting it in contractor bags and then in the normal garbage we would’ve had a mountain of bags for months. Assuming the city would even take that stuff at all.
Instead we called up and got a dumpster rental. The first thing that amazed me was how inexpensive it was. I assumed all dumpsters are huge but they had many different sizes and they recommended one of the smaller ones for my project. Secondly, I was panicking because I thought I’d need to find a friend with a pickup truck to go and get the dumpster. But the rental company just drops it off at your house and then picks it up again when you’re done!
It turned out it was really easy to do, but more importantly, it made my project way easier too. I recommend you always rent a dumpster for any home improvement project.
